The 30-Day Belly Ritual: Using Castor Oil Salve for Comfort, Calm & Circulation
A simple nightly ritual using castor oil salve over the abdomen may help support relaxation, circulation, and digestive comfort.
Simple Salve & The Belly
There’s something ancient about caring for the belly. It is where life first begins for every mammal.
Every mammal has a belly button. It was our connection to mom’s life-giving nutrients and oxygen — and it is also the place where we separated and began functioning on our own.
Across cultures, the belly has been seen as a center — not just of digestion, but of grounding, warmth, and restoration.
This region houses much of the digestive system — including the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and bladder. Major lymphatic trunk lines run through it, and an extraordinary network of nerves connects this region to the rest of the body.
It is where we process food — and often where we hold stress.
“In many traditions, caring for the belly has been a daily ritual — one that supports digestion, circulation, and calm.”
Recently, we began applying Simple Salve to our bellies each evening as a simple daily ritual. The results have been meaningful enough that we felt it was worth inviting others to try.
The 30-Day Belly Ritual for Comfort, Calm & Circulation
For 30 days, before bed (or anytime during the day):
• Apply approximately 3–5 mL of Simple Salve
• Rub it generously over the abdomen, lower back, and kidney area
• Apply a little extra in the belly button
• Wear a t-shirt to protect clothing or bedding
• In the morning, gently massage in any remaining salve
• Repeat again that evening
That’s it. Simple.
No devices.
No wraps required.
Just consistent daily care.
Castor oil has been traditionally applied over the abdomen for generations. Its primary fatty acid, ricinoleic acid, interacts with receptors in the skin and may encourage circulation and relaxation of smooth muscle. Many people find that regular abdominal application supports digestive comfort and a calming evening routine.
Small daily rituals often create the most meaningful changes. The body tends to respond well to rhythm, repetition, and gentle support. Sometimes the simplest practices become the most restorative.
Optional: The Belly Wring
After applying the salve, lie on your back and gently bring your right knee up to your chest, bending at the hip and knee. Then, keeping the knee bent, guide it across your body and let it fall to the left so that your hips begin to turn left.Let your right arm drop to the right side of your body. You will begin to feel a gentle stretch through your midsection, spine, and elsewhere. Take it easy. Don’t be a hero. Go slow. Keep the right shoulder relaxed and resting toward the bed or floor. If you can, turn your head to the right, away from the bent knee.
This gentle twist creates a mild “wringing” motion through the abdomen — like twisting out a towel — while the salve absorbs into the skin. Many people find this position relaxing enough to fall asleep in.
• In the morning, massage in any remaining salve deeply
• Repeat again that evening
Why the Belly?
The abdominal region contains:
• Extensive lymphatic channels
• A large vascular supply — with tens of thousands of small vessels
• Smooth muscle layers
• The enteric nervous system (often called “the second brain”)
• Major immune activity along the intestinal lining
The skin over the abdomen is also relatively thin and well supplied with circulation.
Supporting this area gently and consistently may encourage:
• A greater sense of relaxation before and during sleep
• Reduced abdominal tightness or bloating
• More comfortable morning regularity
• A calmer nervous system
• A general feeling of warmth and ease
We don’t want to overstate what Simple Salve can do. But we also recognize that the body often responds positively to rhythm, routine, and gentle support.
Why Put Oil in the Belly Button?
The belly button is a small natural pocket in the center of the abdomen. In many traditional health systems, applying oil to this area has been used as a way to support relaxation and comfort in the abdominal region.
Because the navel sits in the middle of the abdominal wall, oils placed here can easily spread across the surrounding skin as the body moves during sleep.
In the 30-Day Belly Ritual, we recommend applying a little extra salve directly into the belly button before bedtime.
This helps keep the area moisturized while allowing the salve to spread naturally across the abdomen overnight.
Why Simple Salve?
Simple Salve is intentionally minimal:
• Castor oil
• Beeswax
• No unnecessary ingredients
• Nothing synthetic
Castor oil has a long history of traditional use over the abdomen. Beeswax provides structure and helps protect the skin barrier.
We designed Simple Salve to be clean, stable, and uncomplicated — something simple enough to use every day.
What We’d Like to Know
We’re genuinely curious.
If you try this for 30 days:
• Do you sleep differently?
• Does your belly feel less tight?
• Do you notice improved digestion?
• Do you feel lighter or more comfortable?
• Has regularity improved?
• Do you have more energy?
• Has it become a calming evening ritual?
We are not running a clinical trial.
However, we are always learning from real people using natural products in everyday life.
