Happy Valentine’s Day
Funny how there is a day set aside to show love with chocolates, cards and gifts. I remember in school, making a valentines box that would hold the valentine cards and candy. So fun and innocent.
As I got older, Valentine’s day would sometimes feel sad if I didn’t have a “ Valentine”. How can a day of love could also be a day of sadness from the lack of having a valentine. Why is there only one day to express love? Why not everyday?
Love is so important, without it there is unrest, division, dis - ease but with it we have community, healthy relationships, healthier habits, and lower stress levels just to name a few.
Having a Valentine is wonderful, feeling the external love from others feels great but what about love for ourselves? Can we be our own Valentine? everyday? and what would that look like?
What I am learning is that self love is incredibly important, it affects everything, how we treat ourselves, those close to us and people in general. It affects our language, how we speak to ourselves and others.

If we are not feeling good internally it can come out as snapping at someone, easily angered, abuse of the self and others.
Loving oneself goes beyond chocolates, flowers, and gifts. It’s how we speak to ourselves, our thoughts and how we take care of ourselves. What are we putting in and on our bodies? What are we watching and engaging in?
Are we being kind to ourselves in both words and actions? Are we believing in ourselves?
When we give our bodies what they need and fill our minds with kinder, gentler thoughts, we change and with that change comes out the ripple of love and that ripple of love no matter how small, will change the world.
