Why do VanCoction Salves Help Arthritis?

VanCoction Salves are popularly used to relieve arthritis pain. We often see customers smiling almost immediately after their first application of Simple Salve and/or Mane&Glory.

We know it works based on the reactions from our amazing customers but we also know it scientifically works because the Ricinoleic Acid (RA) in Castor Oil is such a well researched agent.

As an arthritis remedy in particular, RA is the perfect constituent to acclimate into the complex tissues of a joint. It’s a fatty acid, so non-polar (opposite of water), but it will at least partially dissolve in polar solvents (which is not typically what happens with fats and polar solvents like water, they usually separate).

The unique nonpolar and polar qualities of Castor Oil are significant because our tissue membranes and joints have both polar and nonpolar characteristics, so castor oil becomes a well received guest.

Once inside the inflamed joint, the RA in castor oil will stimulate nearby muscle contractions which will dispel the fluid and waste in swollen, painful joints. This happens rather quickly.

Also notable about Ricinoleic Acid’s dual nonpolar/polar nature is that whatever has been dissolved in the salve with it will be absorbed into the tissues as well.

This means that for Mane&Glory, the vanilloids we’ve added will be better absorbed where they’re needed.

What does this mean for arthritis pain? It means that vanilloids will better reach their destination of the TRPV receptor, which will help block pain and inflammation.
